Fabio Ceresa is an award-winning opera director and librettist, renowned for his innovative productions that blend classical tradition with contemporary vision.

ARTISTIC VISION

Fabio Ceresa believes in the transformative power of opera to connect the past with the present. His productions are celebrated for their evocative visuals, emotional depth, and exploration of the human condition through music and performance.

Ceresa’s approach often involves reimagining classic operas with modern sensibilities, creating immersive experiences that resonate with diverse audiences.

Born on August 21, 1981, in Rivolta d’Adda, Italy, Fabio Ceresa developed a passion for opera early in life. He honed his craft at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, collaborating with esteemed directors such as Luca Ronconi, Deborah Warner, and Peter Stein. From 2008 to 2014, he served as an assistant director at La Scala, contributing to the restaging of historic productions by Giorgio Strehler, Franco Zeffirelli, and Jean-Pierre Ponnelle.

 

His work has graced stages across Italy and internationally, including Teatro Regio in Turin, La Fenice in Venice, Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Opera de Lausanne, Wexford Festival Opera, and the Korean National Opera.

Beyond directing, Fabio Ceresa is an accomplished librettist, with works performed at major opera houses worldwide. His passion for literature and visual arts profoundly influences his artistic creations, enriching his storytelling with depth and nuance.

Currently based in Italy, Ceresa continues to innovate in opera and storytelling, seamlessly blending tradition with contemporary perspectives.

Winner of the International Opera Award for Best Young Director, Ceresa has earned acclaim for his innovative productions. Upcoming projects include Otello at La Fenice in Venice, Faust at Teatro Massimo in Palermo, and Carmen at Teatro dell’Opera in Rome. These productions demonstrate his ongoing commitment to excellence and artistic exploration.
